Geography optional Mains 2019 discussion | Lessons Learnt

Where are all the poor souls of geo in forum ?
Guys... What do you think about paper 1 ? Would it be like 2017 where people claimed they got much more than expected due to some lenient correction ?
Similarly in paper 2 I found that I had very less case studies and facts to quote on paper. Pls do comment so that we can have a gauge of the way optional is going.

All the reference of theories are justified if doesn't appear to be forceful according to qusn's demands

@Scorpion888sahi galat ka mains mein khel hi nhi hai bhai, khel yaha structure, diagram, theory IBC etc ka hai as per what toppers say. I also think so as content more or less remains same. I got 141 in 2017 optional paper 2 without using any theory or diagrams but because of decent content and structure. Now maybe I could've got more had I used diagrams and theories or maybe less, nobody knows.

What we know is that toppers with 165+ marks have everything in their answers... IBC, content, structure, diagrams, theories.

@Arrah_Jilatheories are part of answer. It forms 30 -70% of the answer depending on the question. And they are more relevent to pap1 where there is strict checking based on model answers. Pap1 is a geographer's arena to showcase your strength in theory and their merits and demerits. In pap2 there is application of such theories. In this one your analysis on a topic based on multi dimensions is the key. Theories add glamour only here.

@Bubba_gumpu shouldn't have demoralized urself. Even the selected candidates who scored 270-280 in geo-2018 were getting marks in 90s n in full length test 100-110. marking pattern was tight

@Bubba_gumpyes.. both the test series and 500+ qustn paper were same and marking was also same..

@Hartshorne@Bubba_gump-- Thanks for quick reply

@HartshorneDon't go for Guidance after Prelims. He takes lengthy classes. Better do it before prelims in case you want to.

@rahulkoppati2566I did after pre and was able to retain the knowledge and energy to mains. His course formed the peak in my study and at the climax I hit the mains. But yes it's upto the candidate to decide.

@Ragsgo for 500+ plus wen u acquire basic content. He will just help u with structure and interpretation of concepts asked

@Hartshornei joined 500+ in june after pre. I was not sure of clearing prelims but anyhow wanted to utilise that 1 month.
After 500+ plus i can say that i understud the demand of ques asked, how to structure the answer and how to cover the wider perspective.
This year i left 3 10 markers in paper1 and 10 marks in paper 2.
I wud b happy if i get 250 plus.
Based on comparison with last year's attempt and score

Lets see wt happens
