[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Hello everyone

I’ve been getting constant messages about the picture which just got viral .

There was a student living on the 4th floor with a few other students .

One student was tested positive , as a result they’ve put the the 4th floor at home quarantine since 1st may .

We had no contact with that student and neither did any of our employees .

As a precautionary measure , we decided voluntarily to close our outlets for the time being for everyone’s safety .

Note : It’s only the 4th floor and nobody has asked us to close , we closed just because of our own safety and safety of others

Any date before NEET or JEE, if anything goes wrong blame is on UPSC.
So, I believe exam will be either in July end or most likely August - just playing safe
8.9k views
The probable dates on which UPSC can conduct examination(All Sundays after 20 June)
21 June and 28th- Highly unlikely( e.g.- UP has an order to prohibit gathering more than 5)
5th and 12th July(1-12 there are CBSE board exams) again highly unlikely- issue: availability of schools and teachers.
19th July- MAYBE
26th July- Neet/Jee. Kuch to hai us din.( Highly unlikely two big exams clash)
2nd August- PROBABLE
9th August-  MOST PROBABLE ANY SUNDAY FROM NOW ON.

@Lemillion What stops them from keeping it on a Saturday or any other day of the week this year? It is an unusual year after all.

As per this organisation, one won’t be able to buy contraceptive freely and with ease till September due to prevailing circumstances. So will the exam be held after September too?

I’m asking this question because for me, visiting a local chemist shop to buy one or going to the centre to take the exam have a similar nature in terms of freedom of movement or you can say, sign of return of normalcy.

Does the access include here provision by PHC's and ANM's?
What is the sample size of the survey? What are the assumptions made?
Is accessibility mentioned here is in physical terms or economic terms( like many are not going to have money??
I think we should not bother ourselves with surveys here as they paint Monalisa without the face.

@Sapien Precedents, professionalism, plus if the schools are opened for regular classes, who will close them for an exam? That too pan India!

My main emphasis was on return of normalcy till or after September.
And as you mentioned that such surveys provide Monalisa painting without a face, kindly check the news section of this organisation’s website @ http://www.frhsi.org.in/news.php and observe which all news agencies have used their information.(I think that this survey has some form of credibility in it)

Also, if time permits, try reading the article by the Print, you will get answers to some of the questions which you raised.

@TheNotorious I was not intending to dent their credibility. My point was that these forecasts should be taken with a pinch of salt. As a large number of variables are involved in such sweeping remarks as being made above, they do not augur well as a foundation for future predictions.

@Lemillion In a time such as present one, one has to keep in mind and consider as much variables as possible. Here one cannot churn out which variable is good and which variable is not as each and every variable may affect/alter/prescribe/describe or decide the final result and hence one needs to consider maximum number possible.

But the way you said that these surveys present a painting of Mona Lisa without a face, to me it felt that you were somehow terming this survey as bogus and something which should not be paid much attention to.
What I tried to say by quoting this organisation’s survey was that for Prelims, no special arrangement will be made  because the commission has to make arrangements for Prelims 2020 keeping in mind that on an average 8-10 lac aspirants would be coming to take the exam. For example, to ease the load on the health infrastructure, the government has turned railway coaches into quarantine compartments. Such alternative  arrangements for the above mentioned scale(of Prelims exam giver) won’t be possible due to paucity of resources. So the commission will keep the new date in a time period  when things will turn normal.

For me, normal would be when I will be able to board a metro to reach my examination centre, when I will be able to have food at some restaurant, when I will be able to go to a chemist at some distant place away from my home to buy contraceptive and so on.
So what I think is that all these kind of variables need to be considered to predict when will things turn normal. I am not working for any group that is monitoring/forecasting when will the ROI in India will fall or something like that. But yes there are some organisations who are doing this thing, and on the basis of their information, I can predict using my own sense of mind. The above mentioned  organisation by mentioning September month in their survey helped me in guessing when the situation can turn normal and when can the paper be held, but to make sure that if I’m moving in a right direction, I asked for some opinions in a form of question.

You can take  it as a pinch of salt, no worries. I will take it as a....ummm.... a spoon full of Nutella maybe. :P

P.S.- Everything mentioned above was based on personal opinion except Nutella. Nutella is a personal choice!

@TheNotorious  very good analysis....would you put some light on the jee and neet dates....did govt not consider such surveys while announcing dates for jee and neet ?

@TheNotorious Let us wait for 17th May to hear what the Govt. has to say. Things will be pretty clear then!!
And btw, I hope you are able to get Nutella in this lockdown, Just do not take risks for it. !! :P

Upsc will check your temperature and then let u in.

If ur temperature is not normal ,will upsc let u take exam ,risking other candidates?

Tempr may rise due to other medical factor too !

The best thing upsc can do is use all district as exam centre.

Well all district have dm sdm who can take care of rest.
