Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
minister question statement of possibility, there is no prohibition for a 18 year to be minister. It’s only to prohibit for becoming MP but not a minister. It’s a case of a. Just a possibility it clearly say ‘can’. It’s my take. Will see what UPSC reads itBecause of the word "can", I am considering this as -ve. I have marked D. But something in me tells me that the a person eligible to vote can be a minister for 6 months..is actually fine. Like see, a minister who has not been elected or nominated is, a citizen of india anyways and has voting rights. The problem here is , a voter can be a minister, ANY voter can't be a minister and ALL voters can't be a minister.
Yaar this, desher katha, t bill and the deletion of gandhi irwin is like 2.66*4 = 10.67 marks on stake, at the very least.
Last time coachings got btfod in digital signature and ramsar convention and parliament rules , vision included. I can imagine something similar happening this time around too.
No in this question 'D' will be final answer in both case if u read statement in both languages....I am observing tht no one is trying to see article 75 with article 84 both are interrelated...
Article 75 says "A Minister who for any period of six consecutive months is not a member of either House of Parliament shall at the expiration of that period cease to be a Minister."
(see above member of either house....nd nw see below qualification required for a member)
Article 84 says "possesses such other qualifications as may be prescribed in that behalf by or under any law made by Parliament."
(In this 25 years age for LS and 30 for RS is must required)
The use of the word can means if they qualify other eligibility. The only condition the question has laid is they are not member of legislature. So I think we thought too much during exam. I have already taken this wrong. After dropping Gandhi irwin I am at 94.
@Biradar The pdf which I read was not the one which had a reference. It was the original text of Desukar. In google there are two pdf .. I did came across the other one too ( which you read in most probability) .Plus ishita dube also clearly explains us the context. One of my bengali friends also told me that this book is in syllabus for bengali medium students in state boards and the context is all India.

Am talking bout this bro
Lol, in this only. The first chapter is the preface and it is not by deuskar. In any case, if you are ews, and at 90+ without this I don't think you should be concerned at all. Ishita dube keeps it at 1n2 and prolly that's the answer
when you are saying anybody applying Prelims tricks can sail through paper.
Actually the paper has tried to do away with these poor ways to approach Prelims in my opinion. It has given “all of above” for many SnT and Environment ques and at the same time it has used words like “Present” in AI question to keep you on toes.
One had to be vigilant in every question , convince oneself that nothing can be eliminated and then only select all of the above.
As far as polls by Coaching institutes are concerned, I wonder if we are debating about their keys how can we be Convinced with the marks students are getting via their key.I am more particular about students getting 100-108 .They can easily slip back to 95.
Why are people spending so much mental energy discussing questions till now? What's done is done. Those who have even minimal chance should start preparing and those who don't should take a break and introspect about the path ahead.
Discussing here isn't going to help anyone at all. All it does is give anxiety, stress and worries, none of which is helpful in anyway irrespective of the exam outcome.
Every coaching key has mistakes and it is clear as daylight. Shankar has done rakhmabhai wrong. Vision has done preamble wrong. Half of them have done the desher katha thing wrong, considering its 1n2 T bills wala most have written ISSUER OF DEBT and then said 123, self contradictory. Minister wala insights and forum (prolly) and study to have given A. In fact bar vision and insights(?) almost everyone did rakhmabai wrong.
At the very least that's capable of swinging you from ifos zone to normal cse zone and from normal cse zone to outsider.
So much for muh easy paper, half of which had nabardesque questions.
One thing is to have Google at home and checking 3 4 sources. Another thing is hearing about deuskar 1st time in the exam hall and guessing the correct answer.
- According to Constitution of India, A person who eligible to vote can be made a minister in a state for six months even if he/she is not a member of the legislature of that state
- According to the representation of people act, 1951, a person convicted of a criminal offence and sentenced to imprisonment for at least five years is permanently disqualified from contesting an election even after his release from prison.
Which of the above given statements is/are correct?
(a) 1 only
(b) 2 only
(c) Both 1 and 2
(d) Neither 1 nor 2
Answer: A
(If one overthinks the answer could be ‘D’ – overthinking that Voter eligibility is not mentioned in the Constitution and Age 25 is not mentioned. As you know UPSC doesn’t reward overthinking. Here the question is related to checking the concept rather than fact)
S1: Not quite technically true, since one who is eligible to vote isn’t necessarily eligible to be a Minister (for e.g. on grounds of age). But, since UPSC has used the term a voter “can” and not “every voter”, S1 is correct since many voters who meet the eligibility to be a Member of Parliament can be made a Minister.
For e.g. here are few correct and incorrect statements:
CORRECT: A voter CAN become a minister for six months.
CORRECT: A voter eligible to become a Member of Parliament CAN become a minister for six months.
CORRECT: Every voter that is eligible to become a Member of Parliament CAN become a minister for six months.
First statement is only part of a larger correct statement, still true.
INOCRRECT: EVERY voter can become a minister for six months.
With reference to theinternational trade of Indiaat present, which of thefollowing statements is/arecorrect?1. India's merchandiseexports are less than itsmerchandise imports.2. India's imports of iron andsteel, chemicals, fertilisersand machinery havedecreased in recent years.3. India's exports of servicesare more than its imports ofservices.4. India suffers from anoverall trade/currentaccount deficit.Select the correct answerusing the code given below:(a) 1 and 2 only(b) 2 and 4 only(c) 3 only(d) 1, 3 and 4 onlyAin't the 4th statement wrong in present context as we have current account surplus since june.
Yaar drop a representation on this q and forget bout this. Seems the consensus is that present = annual so hey, unless UPSC was pulling a dirty trick it should be 1 3 4.
