[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

how was abhyas everyone? I am kind of disappointed by my marks.

If anyone else found abhyas 3 to be disastrous, you're not alone. My score is ~57. I will put some of my other scores here, not to boast, but to put things in perspective - forum open test - 121, cleared the 2 prelims that i've taken with comfortable margins(2018 - 116, 2019 -130 to 135)

You would do well to not lose sleep over this score. Vision tests are becoming ridiculous. Use it just to see if there are any topics you missed. Ignore the score

visions tests have become more like trivia quiz. not a standard to gauge our preparation these days.
Only they know why they are targeting those 5 obscure questions in the upsc papers by replicating them at the level of about 50 questions in their paper. They are forcing us to doubt each and every statement with a trap in it. Which I don't feel should be the aptitude while writing the actual paper.

Couldn't find any other thread to ask this, I urgently needed Insights on India Thematic Test 10 (preferably with solutions). It was held recently, so not available online. If someone has it know where where to get it from, please share. Pleaaaseee.

I'm seriously confused about committing 3 hours to analyse this test now. Abhyaas seems to be a big disappointment (I hope) or else many of us might have to face a tough reality check on 4th October.

Abhyas 4- improved just 7 marks from 3rd. But percentile was ok at 92

I messed up this Abhyaas test and my percentile took a huge dip. Probably the worst test among all the tests that I have attempted.

You aren't alone.  A score drop of around 20 from the average of last three and a percentile drop of around 20 percentile points too.

Scored 93(81 percentile). I did expect similar marks because the difficulty of Abhyaas 4 was the same as that of Abhyaas 3. The key takeaway is that one's marks should not diverge much from Abhyaas 3. Anything above 100 is a very good score in Abhyaas 4.

I saw a HUGEE divergence in the scores of the last two Abhyaas tests. Abhyaas 3- 125 marks(~98 percentile) and Abhyaas 4- 92 marks (~78 percentile).

So I'm really not sure how to read it.

Can anyone share bailyan open test question?

@hashtag2020 same I had 100 in Abhyaas 3 and scored 80 in Abhyaas 4. I believe I should have attempted more questions (Attempted only 81) but still the scores are scary.

I don't know who needs to hear this but here's an idea: "STOP! OBSESSING! OVER! MOCK! TESTS! AND! REVISE!"

Sab log tukkebaji kar rhe hai 40 questions ke upar.. You had your day on 13th September but not so on 20th September. Someone else had his/her day on 20th September. That is all I can read.

On the contrary, I felt I should have attempted lesser (Attempted-87) and should have focused on the accuracy. Leaving most questions where I tried to make a logical guess since it didn't work out in my favour. Was your accuracy okay in the 80 questions you attempted? If it wasn't, don't you think attempting fewer could have helped?

@hashtag2020 I think I would have got a net positive addition to my score even if the accuracy would have been shitty.

In this test I scored more than my friend for the first time, so i think it really does not show where you stand relative to others, rest only thing we can do now is the revision and be in a good state of mind.

Guys I have three upsc prelims quiet comfortably .My abhyas score  this year are 92,96,82 for last three test .Forum score 98 .I will not say that  I am not afraid .But on deep analysis .Vision tets are no parameters to judge your preparation  .Forum test was quiet good comparatively .But to judge your study do more qualitatively  analysis.

Like areas of question you got wrong .Like I got all the World affairs question  wrong I don't care at this time where is lake heaven ,or why greece and turkey are fighting.

medieval and ancient are wrong ,those are always my weak areas ,so need to revise books of those one or two days before prelims.

Some others mistakes like sco headquater in not in bejieng ,gahrial is critically  endangerd are mistakes due to not forcing my brain and doing questions carelessly .For this one or two revisons of things you have studied and you think that you know them is needed in last hours .So that your brain raises a red flag immidiately if you se a factual incorrectness.

Its okay of you do question of areas you dont read incorrect ,like that later mughal question or facts of rajiv ahir if you read history from Bipin chandra .

ITs not okay to get polity question wrong, not okay to get economics basics concept incorrect ,not okay to get that south china sea question incorrect  .These areas are important .

I DONT KNOW ,whether I will be able to qualify this year or not .But I will surely not make these scores even get into my head inside the exam hall .I will study like a mad dog for these tem days and inside the exam hall my mind set should be will  like pre is just a formality.I mean it tried and tested.
