[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Do check this link.

https://www.unenvironment.org/explore-topics/climate-change/about-climate-change/climate-change-initiatives-and-partnerships

The link will forward you to a page where there are links to webpages of climate based organizations. in the last two years, two questions seem to have been picked up directly from here. If time permits, visit the pages and make some notes out of them. Cheers !

Following are the screengrabs of the things i just mentioned.

The page the link will take you to looks like this.

The following are the two questions picked up verbatim from these links.

Happy reading !

Here you go!

Thesolution ain't incorrect. It did flummox me when i first saw it because both the statements are extreme and hence seem to be wrong. But as it turns out, the answer is indeed C.

Here is ascreengrab of the official question paper and answer key !

It's gud to see ppl are discussing so deeply about prelims. Ppl who are really clearing the paper from past 2/3 years.

I fail to understand why still ppl are going for khabyas. They are shit, were shit, and remain shit.

Even the forum simulators are not upto mark considering the UPSC standard but since it's not actual exam they make ppr to compel everyone to study basics again and again....

Now why I am writing this:

Because, I fail to understand, everyone knows that previous years ppr are the real Bible still why not considered seriously?

Because, I personally feel the institute ppr very close to Upsc standard is Pajiram. Specially 4/5 Flt after lockdown.

So conclusion is PYQ>PAJIRAM>SIMULATORS.

Then if u r left with any breath go for BABA>KSCORE>then your favourite khabhyas.

My honest opinion.

S Vajiram are best in the market

last year I enrolled, their tests are near to UPSC standards

It's highly debatable. In reality both clouds and vertical mixing (the science term for upward and downward movement of air) is very little. This is a key reason as to why planes travel in the stratosphere. But the statement that there are NO vertical winds and clouds is wrong since in reality there's very little.

as far as i know it is tough to solve upsc papers before 2014 by tricks because many questions were factual in nature.....but since 2015 you can apply logic and solve many questions..... that doesn't mean one should not look those papers. their options and question content must be analysed as they are often repeated ( see hard wax, thorny leaves question).....to apply tricks it is better to solve post 2015.

Please don't take corona lightly. Some ppl have died yesterday due to a lack of oxygen. MP/MH goes on and on...

The problem is people started choosing business out of lives & business.

The central government and state government denied this report and said that "all is well"

So please do take care of it. Life is price-less now for govt.

According to the Answer Key you shared, the answer according to UPSC is D (Q. 11). Aren't DPCs mentioned only in 74th CAA. Can someone explain?

Thanks in advance.

Prioritising Corona prevention through lockdown over businesses actually hurts people more. I strongly feel hunger and poverty is a bigger disease than Corona

@msdian Yeah I think it's wrong. I checked the actual amendments on the MHRD website and the district planning committee is only mentioned in 74th CAA but the committee does have members from the panchayat as well.

At this point considering the situation of our country, I thank God that bbc is reporting atleast.

Never belived in the concept of Godi media, but now I truly believe in the term.

All including KDTV are godi media.

Hey guys, a question about PYQs. Been solving them subject-wise so far, with the purpose of identifying frequent areas and repeats. But I also want to try solving some as proper mock tests. Which years should be solved as mocks, considering that the general pattern itself has changed?

Hey guys, a question about PYQs. Been solving them subject-wise so far, with the purpose of identifying frequent areas and repeats. But I also want to try solving some as proper mock tests. Which years should be solved as mocks, considering that the general pattern itself has changed?

2016-2019.Have been doing them for the past two days with the purpose of identifying hints and clues to solve seemingly difficult questions. Very good exerciseimoBound to boost your confidence if your static and CA have been revised multiple times by now.

Do take a note of the cutoffs :116 in 2016. 106 in 2017 and 98 each in 2018 and 2019.

Try and notice things like:

1. Did I find the question paperrelatively easy , like others did in 2016?

2. What was thedifference between 2016 and 2019 papersthat ended up bringing about a difference of almost 20 marks in the two papers ?

3. Are "tricks, rules and hacks" the real deal or do we tend to over emphasize their importance ?

If you can find satisfactory answers to these questions, you will come out a better equipped and more empowered person on the other side of this exercise.

All the best !
