I just feel bad how such a Pious Saying like Jai Shree Ram is used as a signature to spew such nonsense regularly.

People like him, just hide behind the facade of dharma(without understanding it, obviously), and spread all their bigotry. Due to their nonsensical behaviour, the saying has gotten a bad name of sorts. It is high time such people are called out and their nonsense exposed.

Perfect example for-- Mukh me ram bagal me chhuuri.

Transaltion- Preaching sermons of Lord Rama while Holding a Knife. :)

Where in the conversation I brought anything related to any Dharma or Ram to be specific ? So is there any community guidelines who can use what signature ? I believe in Ram and I dont believe in certain things. what i have written above is "my observation" not "my dharma", how are they getting related. Aap jaise log hi Naam me jaat aur dharm dhundhte hai. Hypocrite. Next time please be cautious before calling out anyone's dharma.

@sjerngal Wish same for you. Hope following schedule are making your nerves calmer. Sending you "Normal" vibes.

Bhai logic se door rehte ho kya?

Your signature is a Jai Shri Ram. That means you worship and follow Lord Rama and accept his preachings.

The Ramayana I read and was taught by my grandparents never mentions Lord Rama to be rude, insensitive, among many things. These things are naturally seen in your comments on various threads. But yeah, to you it won't be visible. So, let me give you a lesson on Dharma.

When you follow any God, you are supposed to imbibe his qualities and behaviour( aacharan, if you want the exact word) in your daily life. Bhagwan Rama was not even rude to Manthra and forgave her at once, a woman who literally destroyed his well-settled life, to give you a reference. Heck, Lord Rama was not even Rude to Ravana once. He was the epitome of empathy too, often hailed as "sarva bhute hite rataha".

And here you are, talking shit to every other person here just to act "cool".

You are not following your Dharma then.

And wait, did you just call me finding caste and religion in names? The same person whose every alternate comment consists a sly on SC/ST/OBC and reservation? Sorry bro, your Goebellian technique won't work here. :)

"You are not following your Dharma then."

Sorry dont need your certificate Lol.

Hope you have already got your caste certificate though.

I really believe and have honestly come across people who act in a certain way to get attention because they themselves are undergoing some sort of crisis. Getting attention helps them forget about their issues for sometime. However, they often forget how their behavior can mess up others head.

Since this is an open community it is probably not possible to stop people from talking in inappropriate way. However, I think if those comments are not replied to and ignored, maybe the other person will try to find peace somewhere else, and let forum folks live peacefully. Often, not paying attention helps.

Exactly my point but on forum everybody starts attacking someone with different opinions. I have seen more personal attacks than anyone on forum and still I am the culprit.

Appreciate the sentiment Joe, but in this case, that’s akin to brushing untouchability under the carpet, among other things.

Agar bhai yeh comment meri taraf tha. Just assuming because apne tag krne ki himmat nhi dikhai aur yahan pe mostly comments are attacking me only.

There is nothing like this. I am like this only. No crisis atleast on my side. But I am eagerly helping others solve their crisis.

@Patootie I know what you are saying but hitting our head on a wall, won't move the wall.
Since last few days so many people have tried showing sensible side, tried telling him to be empathetic but then no result.. few people don't change because they don't want to. And then isn't it necessary for our own mental peace that we ignore them in a hope that they'd leave us alone sooner or later?

Yaar by God, beghairati ki intehaa hai wese! Banda chup hee kar jaata hai thoda. Sharm aur hayaa hee kar leta hai thodi. Kya mil jaata hai aese bhare bazaar mei ruswa ho ke, hein?!

TRUST me, you aren't helping anyone with these disparaging personal comments laced with utter insensitivity. They fly in the face of anything remotely logical and sane! And don't complain about people 'attacking' you! Banda kartootein hee aesi na kare! Look at the way you trivialized mental health in the above comments. The veiled casteism isn't getting you any attention, RWA Uncle. Move on. Do better stuff in life rather than being an anonymous troll.  Khair! there's a famous saying in Punjabi, "jaisa muh wesi chaped."

I had thought there will be a discussion on mental illness and how to cope with it after this poll. But, saw how one element can change the entire discourse.

Anyway, for 26% (13% + 13%) who have chosen top-2 options, you have all my wishes. May you fight and come back stronger. Lots of hugs. :)

@root @Neyawn Can we please ban such non-sensical idiots from the community?

@root @Neyawn can we have a “be respectful, be nice” policy like Reddit?

These sort of comments which the user in question has been making for the past few weeks are of course irritating, gauging from the replies they have gotten, but it could be much worse. It could be doing irreparable harm to silent readers who are already going through difficult mental health phases. Given the state of awareness in our country, even such nonsensical comments can have a bad impact.

What happens is that a few of us end up replying to counter the points made. I’m sure we try to ignore it a few times and respond when it becomes unbearable at a certain point. One can always say “don’t feed the trolls, ignore them”, and that has its merits. But in this case someone has to step in because this person sometimes attacks people directly, at which point ignoring him is not a good choice. It is not pleasant for anyone to have to respond to him, but sometimes a response is necessary. If we had some moderation for this kind of stuff, this problem would be solved.

This harms not just the people the comments are directed at (though even that should be reason enough), but the peace of mind of everyone else as a whole. And that’s just speaking of mental health. The caste-baiting is a whole other issue. He brings up caste and reservation out of nowhere in a provocative manner. Surely in a country where we have laws punishing very similar utterances we need to be more careful and strict about such things.

I am saying this because I care deeply about the wonderful people here. There are great users making a lot of valuable contribution - and some are being driven away by this kind of nonsense. If it were some ideological disagreement I would understand, but to lose the support system that forum, is just for the sake of such childish unnecessary comments, would be very sad. No one deserves to be mocked for sharing their stories, and no one deserves to have to waste their time and energy arguing with a troll. I am not asking for this just because I find it personally disagreeable, but because I think it is harming the whole of forum and its forumness.

There are already enough of retards like you who mock people based on reservations and caste. Sorry, won't work here. This is not the medieval era anymore that you can get away with any veiled casteist remarks. So, just get off the high horse or we will drag you down and beat you to pulp.

No more of using caste and certificates as a derogatory remark.

I understand where everyone’s sentiments are coming from, you all are making sense but this is a very oft-repeated story. He makes a comment that’s bound to rile people up, people try reasoning for a bit, try explaining their position and why he’s wrong. All you get in return in mostly snarky remarks and a reverse questionnaire on what he actually did wrong.

Here I would only like to appeal to the voice of reason, please, in future threads don’t bother replying guys. Inadvertently everyone just gangs up on him (with good reason, sure) and I believe all it does is make him a victim in his own eyes. You literally don’t get anything out of making any comments on him or trying to be reasonable.

Sometimes irrational hatred can’t be won over by reasoning alone and it’s not like you guys can do anything else about it. Banning isn’t the solution too because I personally believe we should be mature enough to tolerate this.

I typed a whole ass paragraph for him too but then I realised why I shouldn’t. Just be Stoics in this case.

Just also adding that it’s not exactly just caste baiting, when this person is openly waving around his caste superiority and  “accuses” our honest Christian Sergio of getting a caste certificate like it’s the worst thing one can do.

It’s untouchability and it’s a crime. Let’s call a spade a spade.

@whatonly but the ‘be respectful, be nice’ policy is a slippery slope. I got banned from ‘the official subreddit of India’ for literally linking a news article from The Hindu which went against the narrative being driven there.
Even if the intentions are good, doesn’t work well in reality. People we intend to protect from any further mental anguish genuinely should be mature enough to know such people exist.

However, what would be really helpful is if we could block individuals through our own profiles.

@necromancer Haan, it’s certainly possible for it to be misused. But I think it is worth a try. Forum is very different from other sites. And I don’t think it’s a question of maturity. They should know such people exist but they shouldn’t have to be forced to encounter them if we can avoid it na?
