[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

I'm sorry to say but if this zeal of the government continues it can lead to a major catastrophe and re peaking like it did in USA when trump reopened in may/june. I for one feel it is highly risky to conduct any exam although CAT for mba is announced in late november. So it seems everyone wants a piece of the cake now but clearly neglecting COVID's potential resurgence. Hopefully sanity prevails on our decision makers.

I am not able to understand as to why is Karnataka government hell bent on conducting the examination? If majority of the students are opposing it, then the govt should,politically speaking,simply pay heed to it.

Or is it just a minority who want the exam to be postponed?

So that private colleges can secure admission and fill up their coffers before JEE and other national exams. Money once spent cannot be returned even if the candidate is selected for IIT and other colleges.

By the looks of it SC won't stay anymore exams also. Govt is hellbent on taking exams and restarting economy. People are left on their own basically.

By the looks of it SC won't stay anymore exams also. Govt is hellbent on taking exams and restarting economy. People are left on their own basically.

The point is no one is asking to stop the exams in our case. Its just basic: those who want to write the exam let them write. those who do not want to write the exam: let them. Don't slap consequences on decisions taken during a pandemic year.

@sidnaruto NDA exam is scheduled for 6 September, so if there's any hesitation on part of UPSC, they will announce postponement by mid August I believe (3 weeks in advance).

UPSC changed the date of Engineering Services (Main) Examination from 9/8/2020 to 18/10/2020 on 2nd July. That's about 5 weeks in advance. We would get to know UPSC's intentions by mid-August for sure.

I think SC decision on final year exams will decide future course of action for upcoming exams. If SC gives go ahead to final year exams then government will definitely be conducting them. Taking cue from this Upsc may also go ahead and conduct the exams. After seeing today's guidelines regarding unlock 3.0, only things which are closed are educational institutions, theatre and rail transportation. These things also might be opened until October.

As aspirants, it will be in our interest if exams happen on the scheduled date. I don't see any benefits in exam postponement with respect to a candidate's selection chances. So, why people are not happy if HC has not intervened? I mean there are high recovery rates for 20-30 year olds and if you stay with family you can isolate yourself. Isolation again is anyways better for preparation. This is a narrow perspective towards the whole conundrum but do we have anything more important to think about than getting selected in services?

Let's put an end to this for now, the NDA trajectory will make things clear. Assume the exam is on time, as it likely is. Unless there's a clear second wave much above the current peak, the govt won't budge.

No one wants a postponement. I would prefer additional attempts. For something as frivolous as "CSAT" additional attempts were given. And for a life threatening pandemic which as brought the whole country to a stand still, no additional attempts will be given. OK! :)

@titanium17you are correct, but you have completely ignore the plight of aspirants who are not able to prepare, specially those who dont have access to unlimited internet and are hauled up at their homes in smaller towns. Also the plight of corona warriors who are relentlessly working since march.
Though I am not suggesting postponement, but UPSC can atleast give an additional attempt thinking about such dire conditions.

@FinalMission UPSC doesn't give or take attempts, the goverment does. Today the Karnatak HC did repeatedly ask if there is a plan to conduct exam again for those who may miss it, though they later let it proceed. Extra attempt is a genuine demand imo, at least for those who can't take the exam. Perhaps one extra for everyone may be granted if govt has any sense.
