[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Guys, answer to this question in UPSC answer key is A !!

Above is screenshot from insights answer key.

Statement-1 is clearly wrong. Everyone knows that in FYP-2, there was a strong emphasis on heavy industries. Am I missing something?

@Handshake according to me situation will worsen( I dun want to) logically number of deaths might increase....beacuse increase in death toll takes sometime as cases have risen since 6-7 days

@sankalpr91 insights is wrong. In simple terms fyp1: agri, fyp2: cap goods. (aka heavy industry). Import substitution policy was 1956 or 55 I think, so that checks out.

These folks won't let any exam happen. They will show UPSC its place.

People living in non-covid zones or where cases are going down will have immense advantage compared to Hotspot zones.

What's wrong there? I Think it's alright.

'Giving thrust to import substitution of Capital Goods' means giving thrust to Heavy industries domestically only, isn't it??

@Johnny_Distracted Yes exactly thats my point ... just think about someone who is staying in a room for last 3-4 months just to avoid this shit .....and govt is like aao beta prasad milega ....there should be certain rationale to conduct the exams.....it wont happen but suppose death toll increases to 2000/day fir bhi log bolenge exam le lo bull shit ..... 2000/day means we are in war like sitauation

These people shouting for exams are same people who haven't visited a hospital or hit the ground all these months. They are young urban folks, bored in room cramming stuffs and want things done to suit their agenda. For them, these casualty numbers are some distant phenomenon happenin in tomorrow land.

Guys, Come and visit some hospital, see the dead bodies every day getting packed in coffins and their relatives, watch people- both old and young- staying on ventilator support for weeks, then you will realise how 'frivolous' and 'not so dangerous' this virus and its consequences are.

"Import" is not mentioned in the statement.

"Import" is not mentioned in the statement.

The statement, literally speaking, means that a policy of substitution of capital goods was adopted. This means that capital goods were being substituted by something else. Hence, this statement is wrong.

"Substitution to basic and capital goods" means what, in reference to industry production especially in 2nd FYP??

It means import substitution only!

Come on.

Edit- Here's the exact source from where the oldies at UPSC might have framed this Question:

Statement has the following language - "Substitutionof basic and capital goods".

Substitution of item_1 with item_2, grammatically speaking, means item_2 is now used in place of item_1. By this logic, statement should be wrong as it would mean that something else was being used in place of capital goods.

I have a genuine concern about this answer provided by UPSC. I am just looking for help..
