[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Other exams have mostly candidates who are not working (school/college students). But, in case of UPSC CSE, there are so many candidates who are also COVID frontline warriors. So, shouldn't UPSC take this into consideration ? Isn't conducting this exam on 4th Oct. a violation of Article 14 and also Article 21 of the Indian Constitution ?

@Johnny_Distracted  bhai current DGP of bihar, during his middle years of service he has resigned, fought election on BJP ticket, lost the election, came back and joined the service again, currently DGP. This is called real mockery. O P Choudhary ji won't be able to join as his resignation was accepted, if I am correct. Shah Fasel ji won't be able to join, even if his resignation was not accepted, because government will come out with a post dated notice of resignation acceptance πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Hello Friends

Just went through the answer key for  CSAT paper 2 2019.

Some of the passages were horrendous, such as the one about banking correspondents or the one that dealt with relationship between economic growth and employment.

( Questions 46 and 47 in Series A)

They throw universally accepted conventions for RC to the wind....

Lot of my comprehension questions went wrong.

@Subramanyam yes it is secondary. But the question asked "due to". Don't overthink with upsc. It's a terrible pain to realise that one lost marks because they couldn't make an objective question in an objective paper. But that's how it will be this year too for some questions.

@madeye Don't underestimate the complex interdependence of intelligence activities in Kashmir.

You might get surprised to know who was propped up by whom!

Surely, there are a lot of things we still don't know about the disease. Everyday some random new observation pops up.

The amount of blatant attitude of the government  is just astonishing , Eu countries are opening up because their cases have reduced . Us on the other hand open up the economy as the cases are increasing which results im more and more infection . The sad part is government is hell bent on conducting non essentials such as exams , temple functions...etc which will obviously lead to increase in the number of people infected..... Im just saddened by the utter disregard or oversight of the government.  Anyways stay safe people . Peace ✌️

A side note - I've been going through some online groups of banking and SSC recruitment and the candidates there are itching to give exams. IBPS has released dates for an upcoming exam today and the only fear the candidates have is that the exam doesn't get postponed further.

I guess they have family and close ones too but looks like they're ready to face the consequences. It's all about the priorities of each individual. I'm sure IF prelims is conducted on 4th October - and it's looking increasingly likely - majority will take the risk and worry about the consequences later.

I am from a small town in Bihar. I changed my center from Delhi to Patna. From my town no trains are currently plying towards anywhere. I have only 1 option and that is Road transport. There are no intercity buses operating in Bihar from where I am to Patna. Only option is to book a cab at exorbitant prices and travel 220 kms to reach the test center. Further, since there are only 2 centers in whole of Bihar ie. in Patna and Gaya, both in West bihar, students from all over the state are going to flock to Patna especially, it being the capital. And Corona is raging in full heat in the state. Ideally, after exam I would have to undertake 14 days of quarantine so that my parents are safe, but my house doesn't have the luxury of having a completely separate room for 14 days. And god forbid I start showing symptoms, the health infra which was already bare minimum in the state has gone to the dogs.

This is a big gamble. The worst would be spending 10000 for cab, not clearing prelims and also getting infected. That could be the case with countless number of students.

All the best everyone!

Those compelled to attempt the exam due to age/attempt limits must set aside some time for indoor exercises and adequate sleep these 50 days to up their immunity. I think that is our only way forward now.

UPSC should not forget that Prelims is a 2-session exam. After first session, usually students flock outside the gates of the school/college for 3 hours and then again enter the premises. Will UPSC provide facility for social distancing for those 3 hours?
