[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

It seems that I am not the only one who is having sleepless nights since the last few months. Is it possible to atleast let UPSC/DoPT know about this issue. I understand many people have left Delhi in a hurry without adequate study materials, and some just cant study in a home environment. All these factors might impact performance on the day of interviews/prelims adversely. If we write to concerned authorities (DoPT/UPSC) is there a chance that they might give us another chance to write (as a kind of compensation for 2020)?

@AgogI think if UPSC advises DoPT regarding this, they might agree. I feel this is an administrative issue for UPSC as they are taking the exam.

Upsc/DoPT/Namo mindset - everybody is facing the music, you are not alone.. it's a competitive exam where relative performance only matters.

@FinalMission please keep your hopes low on this. I'm sure age relaxation will be given if this year's exam gets washed out altogether.. anything more i don't see it happening

@Phagocyte I agree. But some might be having their final attempt in 2019 (interviews)/ 2020. Many doctors prepare for this exam as well, so maybe some among them might have coronavirus duties etc.

Those who are seeking extra attempt due to pandemic. They must tag politicians like Shashi Tharoor and dopt minister Dr.jitendra singh on Twitter and tell them your condition and the prevailing situation due to covid.  I remember it was Shashi Tharoor to whom students tagged and asked to raise questions to dopt about postponement of prelims and after 2 days dopt minister response came .

It is most effective method.

Other way is file a case in supreme court.

Asking to upsc for attempt would not help because it is dopt which will decide on such things . Remember it was Rahul Gandhi who supported extra 2 attempt for everyone.

So those who are seeking extra attempt go and tag this politicians especially shashi Tharoor and dopt minister.

@Batmanreturns Thanks for your inputs. I thought UPSC decides and then recommends DoPT and then they deliberate on the proposition and give a green signal. So would writing on twitter work? I thought writing letters to UPSC would yield faster results.

Can anyone here consult me on choosing the mains centre. i dont want to give mumbai and delhi as the centre. currently i stay in maharashtra. Can anyone help me choose between ahmedabad bhopal jaipur or any other centre considering - food, stay, January cold, convenience in commute, cost, less people giving mains in that region, etc.

it may be a silly question but given the present circumstances i am thinking of changing my mains centre from delhi to other state.

@Itachi my home state is RAJ ,if u r afraid from winters don't put Jaipur coz, Jaipur is equally cold as delhi may be slightly less cold....though all other factor are ok in jaipur like stay, food etc

u can put Ahmedabad is is also near to mumbai as compared to other cities suggested by you

@Raillife thanks. The thing about cold is that i hav heard from old candidates that cold reduces writing speed....i am not sure of it but its a factor to consider
@Buddhijeevi Parsad  thanks for suggestion. i was considering Bangalore. no offense but south of maharashtra there is difficulty in communication and food.

@Itachi You can choose Hyderabad. Weather is pretty good in winters. People understand Hindi and English.

All kinds of foods would be available. But of course, south Indian cuisine is widely available.
