[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Go study guys, whatever upsc has to decide it will do it. Given the extra time make sure you clear all the phases at once be it, they conducting in october or Next September.

They postponing and preponing discussion would be better, if we make a solid plan accordingly to get our name on the list. Rest all is Jai hind

Everything well and good, just that the virus doesn't like arrogance. Let's just pray that UPSC comes up with some foolproof arrangements to handle such a large crowd on a single day.

Else a few of us may end up paying very dearly.

is it possible? even if upsc double the expences. ?? can one conduct as well as take exam in mumbai, patna, Bengaluru ??

I think in worst case scenario UPSC should club 2020 and 2021 exams together with fresh advertisement have more number of vacancies and exams in April or May.

I am sharing something that can only be understood by my peers over here.

So I happen to be in one of the two buildings that have corona positive patients in Old Rajinder Nagar. Yesterday, the district collector gave the go ahead for lifting of restrictions from ORN and ordered the sealing of these two buildings only. The patient , who happens to be student like us, is in the 2nd floor and hasn't come out once in the past 10 days (he was diagnosed  on 11th). Only this morning things got interesting.

Since the police put a barricade yesterday, everyone in my neighborhood now know that there is a patient somewhere in the building. And so, all of a sudden, everyone now has become antagonistic to whosoever is coming out of the building even for basic stuff like garbage disposal (the van with the "delhi nagar nigam" message) or getting the foster/bislery cans of water which are being delivered at the doorstep.
This morning one of the students (not corona positive) of this very building got into a heated argument with a neighbor when he was purchasing some bananas (with no cooks available, we are doing whatever it takes to survive this onslaught on our character and temperament) . The lady raised an alarm of sorts and in no time the whole locality started buzzing with expletives directed towards the unfortunate soul (and i repeat, he is one of us).

Hearing the buzz, I went out and in no time, i became the center of attention too. One senior citizen went on to say, "jahaan se aaye ho chale jaao." And another youth in his 30s may be, staright away called the Police to take note of " 2 persons doing BADTAMEEZE." The police came and in their typical "i dont give a damn if you have something to say" manner warned us ," agli baar ghar se baahar nikle to mukadamma kar dunga, andar hoga alag se)

I can only imagine that we ain't alone in this. There must be others who are on the verge of being ostracized by whichever community they live in.

And I can only thank god, it isn't October 4th today. Else who knows, these "i am swag" policemen may even go to the extent of actually prohibiting us (those in containment zones) from reaching the exam hall.  And even if they have directions to allow us to leave, who is to say that when we return in the evening, these so called "neighbors" aren't waiting  to humiliate us again and ask us to go back to ," jahaan se bhi aaye ho"

I am not the playing the victim card here. There is no use actually. Just wanted to share this with few people here who think corona is a joke and us aspirants are being hypocrites for even expecting another delay.

No this is not a joke. One of my colleagues got Covid-19 symptoms, and she had to shift to Noida in a desolate empty apartment of her relative because of the hostility in the neighbourhood.

Every such instance is just a story and every infection and death, just a statistic, until it hits you. Let's hope that people and authorities understand this, before dismissing the threat of Covid.

Man I can completely understand you.
The same thing has happened with me also. My whole colony buggers used to take evening walks, they were actually enjoying the lockdown, you won't believe but there were stalls setup for snacks and essential items so that no one leaves the colony. But then this arrangement invited the festive monster inside the people in here and everyone sort of enjoyed, took selfies, created havoc. We called the police, police came in but even they were not willing to take any action. I protested, but only to hurt their ego. All these so called retired govt officers took it on themselves that how can a 26 year old question us??
Meanwhile, I was covid affected (asymptomatic) and it turned out to be positive. And let me tell you all since 5th July I haven't stepped out. 19th June I was affected, the colony walas created a scene out of it. They have started blaming me for all this (I was the only one affected in the colony ironically, 2 others showed mild symptoms but were tested negative) just because I questioned them. The other day I was just walking my dog at 1 am so that no one is near me, after coming home after recovering and fulfilling 14 days quarantine period. One of those uncle saw me he called the cops, the cops arrived I had to explain to them everything for good half an hour surprisingly cops took my side and went away.

All I want to say is a simple thing. The urban class have taken this covid thing on their ego. They have resorted to their own typical mentality of putting the blame on others for their discomfort, while not recognising the dangers of the pandemic in the first place. Although I have recovered now, but I suffer from mental disruptive phases few times in a day, where I lose my senses and feel quite tensed. Over that these people have made my and my family members life hell.

You are not alone, I have experienced this a lot and have seen many others experiencing the same thing.

Ps:
1. I live in Mumbai.
2. My only mistake was I protested against their "COVID PARTY", to which they said they were doing it to make everyone relaxed amidst this pandemic!!
3. I have followed social distancing, and all the protocols diligently, still I was affected.

Our egoistic society is more scarier than Covid.

"You see, their morals, their code, it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these... these civilized people, they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve. -The Jokerโ€

It is not only about spreading of corona due to exam, but think about those aspirants who are preparing for years and they are tested positive near exam and then cant appear. What about them? You will say they can catch other disease also next time, but those diseases dont require forced isolation.
