Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Beta tumko koodayenge khaayee me. Marne Jeene ka chance jyada nahi 50-50 hi rahega.
Bach gaye to collector banwayenge ,nahi to akhbaar me chapwayenge.
Kya karoge?
@Neyawn @goldberry @root Can we just close this thread its distracting plus people here are commenting unnecessarily, UPSC is the final authority to decide the dates meanwhile our only job is to prepare. No one can predict at this point whether exam can be conducted . Plus we are sane enough to know the pros and cons of the exam being conducted in October.
Democracy hai, jeeyo aur jeene do. Nobody is tagging you here daily ki yaar check my new comment or flooding you with texts ki what's your take about exam happening or not. Why come here and check daily?
Forum also does not have a notifications option except tagging then why it is bothering you?
Your job is only to prepare but even then you discuss probable questions no? Likewise.
The presence of this thread does not encroach upon your rights in any way. Let's not bring arbitrariness into our democratic setup.
Your argument is as sane as asking all fast food joints in your vicinity to close just because you are on a diet! :P
peace.
regular trains are not running now till aug 12 and cases are 40k plus everyday . So u all can guess numbers around oct.. exams generally not supposed to happen in such scenario . It does nt cost nythng for govt if cse pre does nt happen in time . But if they do govt ll have to stand up to a lot of challenges be it political or logistical .. If they do conduct exam nyway i ll be glad if it happens in stadiums like they did in S. korea ( weather can be a issue though ) ... make rule like mask and face shield mandatory .. double the number of centers . adding some more cities in option ( i dont think it ll happen ) ..
@HUMBLEF00L i rest my perspective we both are right or wrong. let upsc decide we will follow our choice..we will follow our intuitions on that day. you stick to yours i will stick to mine.

I have no doubt that prelims would be conducted on 4th Oct , govt has accepted that coronavirus is going to stay and there is no point in delaying things , I appeared for interview and medical examination and sharing some experience (RML hospital) :
1) During our medical examination there was no separate arrangement for UPSC students , we were not provided with even masks or face-shields had to get one our own
2) No social distancing / nothing made to ensure that you stay away from covid+ people infact someone thought I am a doctor and was showing his covid+ result to me !
For those who are thinking what will happen if we contract covid during pre , just think the magnitude of risk dopt and upsc have allowed for students who appeared for interview and for pre 2020 upsc has even allowed change in centres!
Dont compare it with JEE/NEET those are exams for 17/18 year olds UPSC exams are for adults who are required to understand what is physical distancing and how to follow , with proper social distancing , centre change and safety measures exams will be conducted , if you are scared feel free to be absent on the day of exam (this is what dopt will say) . So buckle up and keep preparing !
PS: I am also very much afraid of giving exams/interview/medical in current time and a slight discomfort in chest/cough alarms me , I am just hoping I have not been infected
- at UPSC bhawan the preparations were good , we were provided a kit with mask and gloves , social distancing followed , only for checking your face they asked us to remove masks
- I am pretty sure UPSC would make similar levels of preparations for pre as well and would conduct on 4th oct , some panel members are asking candidates to remove mask and speak so even they are not afraid now
- Only for candidates whose interview was done in march but no medical was done are allowed (150 odd) rest 630 have to undergo medical in delhi hospitals which are covid designated
Key idea is upsc aspirants are matured enough to understand the risk and follow instructions so take precautions and proceed
