[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Kira0705 Dont compare it with JEE/NEET those are exams for 17/18 year olds UPSC exams are for adults who are required to understand what is physical distancing and how to follow , with proper social distancing , centre change and safety measures exams will be conducted , if you are scared feel free to be absent on the day of exam (this is what dopt will say)
Ok thanks for the clarification. But iit neet students who are 17-18 are also mature enough to understand the situation. It doesn't need rocket science to understand this. That is why they took the issue to Twitter for July exams. Rest yes you are right pre may be conducted on 4th Oct.

I am pretty sure UPSC would make similar levels of preparations for pre as well and would conduct on 4th oct , some panel members are asking candidates to remove mask and speak so even they are not afraid now
Yes mask they can provide.
Sanitizer- may be, maybe not
Air fare, train travel subsidize- Not for all definitely
Mask may be removed but still was at a comfortable distance from the members. They asked as they couldn't makeout properly or voice was muffled.

Rest i would not be able to reply right now. Happy studying, as i said you are right it may be held on 4th oct. All the best.

PS - some of us are in our penultimate attempt, age wise too. Though a minority. So cannot be just absent. It is literally do or die for some.

It is definitely getting to affect even the most affluent and comfortable Indians. It is already near our homes. I don't see any exams happening when we might be having 70k+ or even 1 lac cases per day by October. People who are taking it lightly are not being pragmatic. No UPSC/Govt is gonna save you once you get the virus. It's you alone who suffers and fights. Don't see any exam till the vaccine arrives since cases are only going to double, triple till that day aeeives. Rest we can live in fool's paradise.

I am going to repeat myself. As mentioned in numerous toppers' talks - "Don't make this exam bigger than your life. This is just another exam."

Even those people who are saying that career is more important than life, let me tell you that less than 0.1% can get a career out of this exam. Sometimes, tough and unorthodox decisions need to be taken. The decision to whether or not sit for this exam lies in this category. You need to decide if your life depends on this exam.

If you are mentally prepared to face the consequences of contracting the virus by sitting in this exam, then by all means, go ahead. But, you cannot make the decision to sit for it on the assumption that you will be safe.

Everything said and done, there will be people on either side of the spectrum of argument. But there is  definitely no iota of doubt, that several legal hurdles will be faced if UPSC decides to go forward with October 04 in current prevailing situation.

This is an exam for constitutional posts, by a constitutional body at a pan India level. UPSC will be aware that even few grievances from those wrongly disadvantaged has the potential to throw off the entire procedure into a legal entanglement. UPSC knows this very well, and therefore had made the elaborate arrangements for students transport (including air fares). Similarly, UPSC was quick in deferring the Prelims in May (before other institutions did)

UPSC has distinguished and well experienced members at the helm who will keep interests of all the sections of students in mind and take a rational decision. Recruitment exams have not much justification to be conducted hurriedly, unlike the JEE/NEET entrance exams.

Padhte rehna hai, baki dekha jaye toh zindagi moh maya hi hai :D

bhai if you are so clear convince this to govt. ye farzi mhrd wale forcing to conduct even the bloody final yr exam on students wahan to ek university mein jyada to 50,000 honge.  Some have been to SC against UGC.

If upsc wont get it SC is there. Now I think let the SC run this country if these jahil cant run the country.  UPSC Mains mein yahi question puchegi "Do you think that judicial activism has taken a dig on democracy? Critically analyze?" And we will be writing a balanced answer!!!!!

Aur for whom they are doing it??? janta. Please STOP!
"Mera vachan hi hai Shashan"

Fed up with this govt. Sach mein itna mushkil hai kya samajhna.......?????

I wish I could convince UPSC. People are already campaigning against conduct of other examinations like JEE, NEET, college exams on twitter.

But, it seems like there is a significant chunk of UPSC aspirants who want the Prelims to be conducted as scheduled. I am not sure why, but may be they just want to get it over with. This is what is hampering us aspirants to come out united for postponement of the exam.

@Tejas14 This administrative setup as a whole would either cease to exist or will be completely fragmented and privatised with complete lateral entry from the private sector just like lower bureaucracy in US/west. Higher functions of bureaucracy will probably have a political appointment system again like the USA. This is based on my estimations of the government's long term plans/inputs from right wing think tanks. Also I do see the federal system evolving over time and we could have a presidential form with more accountable appointments as the government takes a decisive shift in administrative policy thus enabling proper political appointment process+lateral entry in full. With such continuing majorities I do see a mix of US+EU style bureaucracy in the future. 2025 k baad bhool jao UPSC CSE exam and all its hype amongst youth. Even post covid world mostly 2022 onwards govt can take drastic steps in examination process like age, services reduction/restructure/pvt entry/exam pattern etc. in the name of "Structural reforms to revive India after corona"/Viswaguru bharat Plan etc lol.

@Agyeyakar hi do centre change !
Consider 4th oct as d-day. At this point of time even upsc doesn't know what will happen after 2 months.
