Explanation – Under the provisions of the Competition Act, 2002, the Central Government has the authority to refer cases related to anti-competitive practices to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for investigation. While regulatory bodies like SEBI and NCLT deal with other specialized areas of governance, it is the Central Government that plays this key role in matters concerning competition law enforcement.
