Here is the pattern of the exam:
- Paper = General Studies; Time = 2hrs; Total questions = 150; Marks = 150
Some key points to remember:
- Questions would be set both in English and Hindi, except for the questions that are aimed to evaluate the candidate’s English skills.
- Questions would be of Multiple Choice type. There will be no negative marking. Each question will have 5 options.
- Use of a calculator is not allowed.
- BPSC Prelims exam will be of qualifying nature only. The score in the Prelims exam shall be used only to select candidates for the BPSC Mains Exam.
- To qualify for the mains exam, candidates must get the minimum marks set by the commission.
- The number of candidates to be selected for BPSC Mains exam would be 10 times the vacancies.

Some key points to remember:
- Questions will be available in both Hindi and English.
- There is no negative marking in the descriptive question papers.
- Candidates need to attempt all the papers to qualify for the interview round.
- This round is both scoring and qualifying in nature.
- The candidates who are placed suitably in the merit will be called for the interview.
