To accommodate start-ups, MeitY relaxes AI compute procurement norms

News: The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has relaxed some provisions in its norms to procure computing capacity for AI solutions under the AI Mission. This move is expected to benefit start-ups and small companies.

1. IndiaAI Mission: It aims to establish a comprehensive ecosystem by fostering AI innovation through strategic programs and partnerships across the public and private sectors.

2. The mission has various components like Compute Capacity, Innovation Centre, Dataset Platforms, Application Development Initiative etc.

3. The mission will be implemented by ‘IndiaAI’ Independent Business Division (IBD) under Digital India Corporation (DIC).

4. Start-Ups: In India, a start-up is classified based on 5 parameters: A) Company Age B) Company Type C) Annual Turnover D) Original Entity E) Innovative & Scalable.

5. Some schemes launched to promote start-ups: Startup India Scheme, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, Atal Innovation Mission.
