Glossary:

  1. Natural population growth rate:The rate of natural population growth refers to the difference between the number of live births and the number of deaths occurring in a year, divided by the mid-year population of that year, multiplied by a factor (usually 1,000).
  2. Total Fertility Rate: It is the average number of children born per woman.

  1. Replacement level fertility:It is the total fertility rate at which a population exactly replaces itself from one generation to the next, without migration. This rate is roughly 2.1 children per woman
  2. Relative share: Relative share is defined as the ratio of a region’s all-India share in population in a given age-group and its share in total population.
