Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) is a statutory market committee constituted by a State Government to regulate trade in certain notified agricultural or horticultural or livestock products, under the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Act.
The principle objective of the APMC act is to safeguard the interest of the farmers against the malpractices of large numbers of middlemen in the market.
APMCs are intended to be responsible for ensuring transparency in pricing systems and transactions taking place in the market area.
