News:China has successfully launched the Long March 5B’ rocket and its prototype spacecraft from the Wenchang launch site in the southern island of Hainan,China.
Facts:
Long March 5B: It is a new version of the Long March 5 launcher, China’s most powerful rocket designed to:
- Transport astronauts to the permanent space station that China plans to complete by 2022.
- To carry China’s Mars mission named Tianwen in 2020.
- To send an astronaut to the Moon in about a decade and then build a base there.
- The United States is so far the only country to have successfully sent humans to the Moon.
