News: While speaking at the first Global Conference of the International Cooperative Alliance, Bhutan’s Prime Minister has pitched the Gelephu Mindfulness City Project as the biggest cooperative project in Bhutan.
1. The Gelephu city is in southern part of Bhutan, near India-Bhutan border, covering an area of 2,500 sq km.
2. It is a planned special administrative region, envisioned by the king of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk.
3. The project focuses on three key areas: A) Energy B) Connectivity C) Skills.
4. The city is designed on Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness (GNH) philosophy.
5. It is an innovative project that blends economic growth with mindfulness, holistic living and sustainability.
6. The strategic location of the city will boost connectivity between South and Southeast Asia.
