Description1. The Department of Defence Production launched the ADITI scheme during the annual Defence Innovation Event – DefConnect 2024 held in New Delhi.
ObjectiveTo create an ecosystem for fostering innovation and technology development in defence and aerospace by engaging industries, startups and academia.

Salient features1. ADITI specifically focuses on promoting innovations in critical and strategic defence technologies such as ammunition and explosives, armaments, aerospace, surveillance, sensors, propulsion, artificial intelligence and other future technologies.
2. It aims to develop about 30 deep-tech critical and strategic technologies in the proposed timeframe.
3. Technology Watch Tool aims to bridge gap between armed forces’ requirements and innovation ecosystem capabilities
BenefitsThe ADITI scheme is expected to provide major benefits to the defence sector in multiple ways:

i) The scheme will reduce import dependence in critical technologies and help India to be self-reliant.
ii) The development of advanced technologies will boost defence capabilities and preparedness.
