  • EXERCISE EASTERN BRIDGE -VI AT AIR FORCE STATION JODHPUR
    What is the news?

    Indian Air Force (IAF) and Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) are scheduled to participate in a bilateral exercise named Eastern Bridge-VI at Air Force Station Jodhpur. 

    What is Exercise Eastern Bridge?

    Conducted between: India and Oman.

    Type: Bilateral air exercise

    First edition: held in 2009.

    This is the sixth edition of the exercise.

    The exercise will provide an opportunity to enhance operational capability and interoperability between the two Air Forces.

    What are the other bilateral exercises between India and Oman?

    Naseem-al-Bahr: It is a bilateral biennial naval exercise between India and Oman.

    AL NAGAH: It is a bilateral military exercise between India and Oman.

  • Exercise Milan: Amidst tense Ukraine standoff, US & Russia to take part in India’s largest naval exercise
    What is the News?

    The US and Russia will be participating in India’s biggest maritime exercise named “Milan-2022” amidst escalating tensions between them over Ukraine. 

    What is Exercise Milan?

    Exercise Milan is a biennial multilateral naval exercise conducted by the Indian Navy. It was first held in the year 1995 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

    The exercise is aimed to enhance professional interaction between friendly foreign navies and learn from each other’s strengths and best practices in the maritime domain.

    Exercise Milan 2022

    The exercise is being held in Visakhapatnam for the first time instead of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The theme of the exercise is ‘Camaraderie Cohesion Collaboration’.

    The exercise will see participation from around 40 countries such as the US, Russia, Australia, UK, Japan, South Korea, France and Israel, Saudi Arabia among others.

  • Exercise Sea Dragon: India and five other nations begin anti-submarine exercise with US
    What is the News?

    India is among the six Indo-Pacific nations participating in an Exercise Sea Dragon in the Pacific Ocean.

    What is Exercise Sea Dragon?

    Exercise Sea Dragon is an annual US-led, multinational exercise:

    Aim: To practice and discuss anti-submarine warfare tactics to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.

    Participating Countries:  United States, India, Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea.

    Note: India, Japan, Australia and America are also part of the Quad and also participate in the Malabar exercise.

    Activities: The exercise will involve more than 270 hours of in-flight training and activities ranging from tracking simulated targets to tracking a US Navy submarine. Each event will be graded and the country scoring the highest points will receive the Dragon Belt award.

  • INDIAN ARMY TEAM WINS GOLD MEDAL IN EXERCISE CAMBRIAN PATROL ORGANISED AT BRECON, WALES (UK)
    What is the News?

    A team from Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) which represented the Indian Army at the prestigious Cambrian Patrol Exercise at Brecon, Wales, UK has been awarded a Gold medal.

    What is Exercise Cambrian Patrol?

    Exercise Cambrian Patrol is organised by the UK Army. It is considered as the ultimate test of human endurance, team spirit and is sometimes referred to as the Olympics of Military Patrolling among militaries in the world.

    During the exercise, teams are assessed with respect to their performance under harsh terrain and cold weather conditions. They were also exposed to complex real-world situations in order to assess their reactions in combating the settings.

    Who participated in the exercise from India?

    The Indian Army team participated in the exercise and competed against a total of 96 teams, which included 17 international teams representing Special Forces and prestigious Regiments from around the world.

    What did the Indian Army receive?

    The Indian Army team received a Gold Medal for their excellent navigation skills, overall physical endurance and delivery of patrol orders.

  • Indian Army Contingent Departs for 17th Edition of Indo-US Joint Military Exercise “Ex Yudh Abhyas 2021” at Joint Base Elmendorf – Richardson, Alaska(USA)
    What is the News?

    The 17th edition of the exercise “Yudh Abhyas” will be conducted at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Alaska, USA.

    About Exercise Yudh Abhyas

    Exercise Yudh Abhyas is the largest running joint military training and defence cooperation endeavor between India and the USA. 

    The exercise was started in 2004 under the US Army Pacific Partnership Program. The exercise is hosted alternately between both countries.

    The exercise aims at enhancing understanding, cooperation and interoperability between two Armies. 

    What are the other exercises between India and the US?

    Exercise Tiger Triumph– It is a tri-service military exercise between India and the US.

    Exercise Vajra Prahar: It is a Special Forces joint military training exercise. It has been conducted alternately in India and the US since 2010.

    Exercise Cope India: It is a series of bilateral Air Force exercises between India and the United States.

    Exercise Malabar: It is a multilateral naval exercise that includes simulated war games and combat manoeuvres. It was started in 1992 as a bilateral exercise between the Indian and the US navies. Japan joined in 2015. In 2020, the Australian Navy has participated in the exercise for the first time since 2007.
