- The Election Commission has advised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to be more careful in future in future references to the armed forces in his poll campaign speeches for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
- UP CM’s remark describing the armed forces as “Modiji ki sena” during a poll campaign had generated widespread controversy and was highly criticised. The EC had issued a show cause notice to UP CM for the remarks after allegations that the comment was a violation to the Model Code of Conduct.
- Model code of Conduct (MCC) are the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for conduct of political parties and candidates during elections. The MCC comes into force immediately on the announcement of the election schedule by the commission. The Code remains in force till the end of the electoral process.
