- The meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has passed two resolutions on Kashmir.It was passed a day after India’s foreign minister’s address at the OIC.
- The two resolutions,(a)Kashmir issue as the “core dispute” between the India and Pakistan.It also expressed concern at rights violations in “Indian occupied” Kashmir and (b)India-Pakistan “peace process”,were part of the overall political resolution passed at the end of the meeting of OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers.
- Reacting to the resolution,India asserted that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and the issue is strictly internal.
- Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization founded in 1969, consisting of 57 member states.It is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the United NationsThe OIC has permanent delegations to the United Nations and the European Union.
