News: Dimna Lake, Jamshedpur was among 25 lakes across the country after which spectator galleries were named during the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Delhi’s Red Fort.
About Dimna Lake

- Location: It is located at the foothills of the Dalma Hills, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
- Area: It is a man-made reservoir covering an area of approximately 27 sq.km.
- It has been surrounded by forests and natural catchment areas.
- The lake is situated near the Dalma Wild life Sanctuary.
- It was created by damming the Subarnarekha River.
- Constructed by: It was constructed under the Dimna Nala Water Supply Scheme by Tata Steel.
- The work on the project began in 1940 and was completed in 1944.
- Storage capacity: It was built with a storage capacity of around 7,500 million gallons to meet the future water needs of a rapidly expanding industrial city.
- It serves as an important ecological asset while attracting thousands of visitors, nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.
