About Gaganyaan Mission?
- Gaganyaan is India’s first Human Space Flight Programme to be launched by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) by 2022.
- It is designed to carry about three human beings for a maximum period of seven days in space with the support of academia and the scientific community.
- The programme will make India the fourth nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight Mission. So far, only the USA, Russia and China have launched human spaceflight missions.
- This would be one of the cheapest manned space flights in the world, with the entire mission, including technology development, flight hardware realization and infrastructure.
