The main focus of the BIMSTEC DMEx-2017 will be on testing the region’s preparedness and resilience towards effective activation of intergovernmental interaction for immediate deployment of regional resources for Disaster management in south Asia

The BIMSTEC DMEx-2017 will be conducted in two phases in India comprising of Tabletop Exercise (TTX), Field Training Exercise (FTX) and After Action Review (AAR).

To build regional capacities, India is hosting the first BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise in October 2017. The exercise aims to develop quicker, coordinated and comprehensive responses to disasters and provide timely relief and rehabilitation

Mission Indradhanush was launched in December 2014. India has announced Intended Nationally Determined Contribution setting the target for its domestic effort against the climate change.

India’s Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) targets are:

• Reduce emission intensity by 33 to 35 per cent by 2030.
• Produce 40 per cent of electricity from non-fossil fuel based energy resources by 2030.
• Create an additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2030
• Develop robust adaptation strategies for agriculture, water and health sectors.
