Greenfield project means that a work which is not following a prior work. The infrastructure the projects are done on the unused lands where there is no need to remodel or demolish an existing structure are called Green Field Projects. So simply Greenfield airport is a new airport which is constructed on an undeveloped site. Kazi Nazrul Islam airport in West Bengal is India’s first private Greenfield airport. PPP investment model are used to be easily available in Greenfield Airport projects.

Brownfield Airport means the airport which is modified or upgrade as per current circumstances.e.g Mumbai Airport, Delhi IGI. Brownfield projects under FDI have been a cause of concern as they increase foreign monopoly without adding to capital formation. Example (Sri Lanka Government handed over Hambantota Airport to Chinese Firm due to inefficiency in returning the investment and GMR issue in Maldives). Land Availability and decongestion of rush in existing airports are major challenge in up gradation of airport.

Consumer Price Index is a measure of change in retail prices of goods and services consumed by defined population group in a given area with reference to a base year. Ministry of statistics releases Consumer Price Index. Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme revised the Base Year of the Consumer Price Index from 2010 to 2012 with effect from the release of indices for the month of January 2015. In 2013, the consumer price index replaced the wholesale price index (WPI) as a main measure of inflation. It is calculated on monthly basis.CPI numbers are widely used as a macroeconomic indicator of inflation, as a tool by governments and central banks for inflation targeting and for monitoring price stability, and as deflators in the national accounts. CPI is also used for indexing dearness allowance to employees for increase in prices.
