GAIA Asia Pacific is part of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives, a network of organizations and individuals working towards a more sustainable and just approach to waste management. Their goal is to promote zero waste strategies and a circular economy, moving away from linear and extractive systems that contribute to pollution and environmental degradation. They also support people’s right to a safe and healthy environment. Statement 2 is incorrect. GAIA Asia Pacific does not support incineration technologies, as incineration contributes to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and other negative environmental impacts. Instead, GAIA promotes waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and other alternatives to incineration that align with the principles of a circular economy and environmental justice
