Denison barb (Miss Kerala), a fish species, has been included in Schedule I of the Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2021. However, aquarists and ornamental fish breeders have issues with this inclusion.

Denison barb (Miss Kerala) is also known as red-line torpedo barb, or roseline shark. It has red and black stripes on its body.
IUCN Status: Endangered
Habitat: It is a native freshwater fish species, commonly found in parts of Karnataka and Kerala. This species is known to inhabit fast-flowing hill streams and is often found in rocky pools with thick vegetation along river banks.
Threats: The fish species is being exploited for the aquarium trade. The species accounts constitutes 60 – 65% of the total live ornamental fish exported from India. Habitat degradation due to deforestation, mining, agriculture, urban expansion and hydro-electric projects also threatens it.
