1.) What do you understand by Urban Heat Island Effect? Highlight the factors that give rise to the phenomenon of Urban Heat Island.
2.) Robust cold chain systems are an investment in India’s future pandemic preparedness. In the light of the statement, discuss the significance and challenges of the cold chain system in India.

Urban heat island is the phenomenon of higher temperature in urban areas compared to hinterland. Urban microclimate is different because of nature of buildings/construction, lack of green cover and water bodies in urban areas among other factors. Your answer should be on these lines. Do include the temperature profile of urban/rural areas in the answer.

Nice answer. You began with the simple definition. Then came directly to significance, followed by challenges and the way forward. So structure is excellent.
Some suggestions:
1. In the definition, you skipped transportation. It is the most crucial aspect of cold chain system. Significant number of failures occur due to equipment malfunction, breakdown, poor handling during transportation.
2. In challenges you could have added other specific points like Lack of electricity which causes issues in maintaining temperature, and equipment malfunction etc.
3. Also mention a little about Government’s initiatives like e-Vin, Co-Win for use of digital technologies in cold chain management.
4. If possible, do elaborate on some points (1-2 lines max), like how Use of technology can help in better management (like remote monitoring of temperatures, alarms in case of rise in temperature etc.)
