Naturalization is a process by which citizenship is granted to a foreign-citizen after he/she fulfils the requirement established by Parliament in Citizenship Act, 1955.
The citizenship law of India declares that a foreigner can become a naturalised citizen by ordinarily residing in India for 12 years (throughout the period of 12 months immediately preceding the date of application and for 11 years in the aggregate of 14 years preceding the 12 months) and fulfils all qualifications in the third schedule of the Citizenship Act.
