Doctrine of Parens patriae

Doctrine of Parens patriae says that the government of the state has to play the role of a parent for children, elderly, mentally disabled, incompetent or physically disabled persons, used mostly in the Juvenile Justice legal system.

The authority of taking the decisions for these people who are not able to take care of themselves and are solely dependent on the government, in their own hand.
