As per a recent study by the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, it is revealed that 11.4% of India’s population or 10.13 crore people are living with diabetes and 15.3% of the population, or an additional 13.6 crore people are pre-diabetic.

Measures taken by different countries to regulate food industry

  • South Africa: Comprehensive food labelling is required in South Africa, and this includes information on ingredients, allergens, nutritional value, and place of origin. In order to fight obesity and encourage healthier beverage options, the nation imposed a sugar tax on sugar-sweetened beverages.
