Explanation – The Shompen tribe, primarily inhabiting the Great Nicobar Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands territory, maintains a unique lifestyle compared to many other tribal communities in India. They are primarily hunter-gatherers, relying on hunting, fishing, and collecting forest resources for their livelihood. It is one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in the country. Recently, for the first time, members of the Shompen, took part in the election process by casting their votes in the Andaman and Nicobar Lok Sabha constituency.
