Explanation – The Director-General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) holds the rank of a three-star officer, which is equivalent to the rank of Lieutenant General in the Indian Army, Vice Admiral in the Indian Navy, or Air Marshal in the Indian Air Force. The DGAFMS is the head of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), which integrates the medical services of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. It serves as an advisor to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Minister of Defence on all medical matters related to the Armed Forces. The DGAFMS is directly responsible to the Defence Ministry for overall medical policy matters relating to the armed forces.
