News: Recently, NHAI in collaboration with Vertis Infrastructure Trust announced the launch of ‘Project Aarohan’.
About Project Aarohan
- Launched by: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in collaboration with Vertis Infrastructure Trust.
- Objective: To support the children of toll plaza employees in fulfilling their educational aspirations.
- Aim: It aims to remove financial barriers, reduce socio-economic inequalities, and provide equal access to quality education to students from marginalized communities.
- Targeted beneficiaries: The project is designed to benefit students from economically weaker sections of society.
- Special focus has been given to girls from low-income households, first-generation learners, and children belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minority communities.
- Key features
- Funding and Duration: In its first phase, Project Aarohan has been allocated a fund of ₹1 crore.
- This phase will run from July 2025 to March 2026.
- Scholarships Offered: The project will support 500 students from Class 11 up to the final year of graduation.
- Each of these students will receive an annual scholarship of ₹12,000 for the financial year 2025–26.
- 50 bright students aspiring to pursue postgraduate or higher studies will be awarded scholarships of ₹50,000 each.
- Mentoring: It also offers structured mentorship programs, skill-building workshops, and career guidance.
- Funding and Duration: In its first phase, Project Aarohan has been allocated a fund of ₹1 crore.
- Significance: It is expected to reach out to the children of toll plaza personnel deployed across the vast network of national highways in India and create long-lasting benefits by providing financial assistance, career awareness, and mentorship opportunities to hundreds of students nationwide.
