News: Iran has used Sejjil missile for the first time in the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel.
About Sejjil missile
- It is a two-stage, solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) developed domestically by Iran.
- Successor of: It is a successor to older liquid-fuel missiles such as the Shahab series.
- It was fired during the 54th wave of Iran’s Operation True Promise-4.
- Features
- Range: It has an estimated range of around 2,000 km.
- This enables it to strike targets across the Middle East.
- Payload: It can carry a payload of around 500-1,000 kg, which may include conventional high-explosive warheads.
- Length and weight: It is about 18 m long with a launch weight exceeding 23,000 kg.
- Road-mobile system: It is a road-mobile system and travel at hypersonic speeds , allowing quick movement, launch, and relocation to avoid preemptive strikes.
- Maneuverability: It is nicknamed the “dancing missile” due to its in-flight maneuverability, which make its trajectory unpredictable and complicates radar tracking and interception attempts.
- Range: It has an estimated range of around 2,000 km.
