About Hudsonian godwit (Limosa haemastica )
- They are large shorebird belongs to sandpiper family, Scolopacidae.
- Scientific name: Their scientific name is Limosa haemastica.
- Habitat: They breed in wetland habitats such as sedge meadows and muskeg in the sub-Arctic and Boreal regions.
- Distribution: They are long -distance migratory species that breed at remote sites in northern Canada and winter in southern South America.
- They migrate to South America and the Caribbean.
- They are occasionally recorded as vagrants in Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
- Characteristics
- Adults have long dark legs and a long pink bill with a slight upward curve and dark at the tip.
- Their upper parts are mottled brown and the underparts are chestnut.
- Their tail is black and the rump is white.
- They show black wing linings in flight.
- Their legs and feet are bluish-grey.
