News: DSC A 23, the fourth ship of the five Diving Support Craft (DSC) project, was launched at Titagarh, Kolkata (WB).
About DSC A 23
- DSC A 23 is the fourth ship of the five Diving Support Craft (DSC) project.
- Launched on: It was launched on 19 Apr 2026 at Titagarh, Kolkata (WB).
- Constructed by: It was constructed by M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), Kolkata.
- It is designed and built in accordance with the Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).
- It has also undergone extensive model testing and hydrodynamic analysis at NSTL, Visakhapatnam, ensuring operational reliability and safety.
- Features:
- It features a 30-m catamaran hull design with a displacement of around 380 tons.
- This provides craft with enhanced stability, larger working deck space, and improved sea-keeping capabilities for coastal and harbour diving operations.
- 70% of the main and auxiliary equipment in these crafts comes from indigenous manufacturers.
- Already Inducted ships: The three ships of the five Diving Support Craft (DSC) project have already been launched, namely:
- DSC A22 (Yard 327) (Third ship)
- DSC A 21 (Yard 326) (Second ship)
- DSC A20 (Yard 325) (First ship)
- Significance: Its induction will augment the Diving Support, Underwater Inspection, Salvage Assistance and Coastal Operational Deployment capabilities of the Indian Navy.
