  • Ghana is a country of western Africa.
  • Borders: It is bordered to the northwest and north byBurkina Faso, to the east by Togo, to the south by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west by Côte d’Ivoire.
  • Capital: Its capital is Accra.
  • Climate: It has a tropical warm and humid climate.
  • Geography: Its geographical landscape is primarily divided into four distinct regions – the Coastal Plain, the Ashanti Uplands, the Volta Basin, and the Northern Plains.
    • Coastal Plain:  It lies adjacent to the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean.
      • It is also referred to as the Accra Plains.
      • It is characterized by low-lying sandy shores, lagoons, wetlands, and mangroves.
    • Ashanti Uplands:  They are located in the southern half of the country.
      • They encompasses the Ashanti and Kwahu Plateau.
    • Volta Basin: It is located in the central part of Ghana.
      • It comprises low-lying plains interspersed with a scattering of hills and ranges.
      • It also includes the Akwapim-Togo ranges, which run parallel to the eastern border with Togo.
    • Northern Plains: It spans the northern part of Ghana.
      • It is also referred to as the Savannah region and primarily comprises grasslands and baobab trees.
    • Mountains: Mount Afadjato, Mount Djebobo, and Mount Torogbani are major mountains located in the country.
      • Mount Afadjato is the highest point in the country.
    • Rivers: The country also has several significant rivers, including the Volta with White Volta and Black Volta, Ankobra, Tano, Pra, and Densu.
    • Lakes: Lake Volta is located in the country.
      • It is one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, formed by the Akosombo Dam on the Volta River.
    • Natural resource: It is rich in minerals, but only gold, diamonds, manganese, and bauxite are commercially mined.
  • Agriculture: Cocoa is the one of Ghana’s principal export crops.
