.Authorities in Madhya Pradesh Agar Malwa district booked two men under the National security Act for allegedly transporting cattle illegally and disrupted public peace.
.The National Security Act of 1980 is an act of the Indian Parliament whose purpose is to empower both Central and State Governments to detain a person to prevent him/her from acting in any manner prejudicial to the security of India, the relations of India with foreign countries, the maintenance of public order, or the maintenance of supplies and services essential to the community it is necessary so to do.
.Orders under the NSA for the preventive detention for one year are passed either by commissioner of police or district collector. The accused have to file habeas corpus petition in High court for quashing the detention orders as there is no bail provision in them.

.Invoking NSA in ordinary criminal cases has two fundamental problems.Firstly,NSA is intended to stop future crimes and Secondly it is not meant to respond to ordinary law and order violations.
.The NSA act has repeatedly come under criticism for the way it has been used by the police. As per a law Commission report from 2001, more than 14 lakh people were held under preventive laws in India.
