  1. A public opinion survey titled “Politics and Society between Elections 2019” has revealed that political parties are the most distrusted institutions in India. Army has emerged as the most trusted institution with an effective trust rate of 88%. Judiciary including the Supreme Court, High Courts and district court had an effective trust rate of more than 60%.
  2. The survey has also provided for people’s views on governance, sexuality, gender, nationalism, populism, caste and religious identities. Unemployment emerged as the biggest issue with almost 20% of respondents stating that it was their biggest concern.
  3. The report was published by Azim Premji University in collaboration with Lokniti, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS). The survey covered 12 States- Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Delhi
