- According to a new report by TomTom, Mumbai’s traffic flow is the worst in the world and Delhi is in the fourth position. Bogota (Colombia) has been ranked second and Lima (Peru) third.
- In 2018, the average traffic congestion in Mumbai was 65% as compared to 66% in 2017. Delhi recorded an average of 58% traffic congestion in 2018, a 4% decrease compared to 2017.
- In 2018, at MOVE: India’s ever first Global Mobility Summit organized by NITI Aayog, the think-thank had released a document titled “Transforming India’ Mobility”. The NITI Aayog, in the document, has recommended a 3C Framework (Clean, Convenient and Congestion free) for transforming mobility in India.
- To achieve the objectives, it has called for action around four key pillars, namely, (a) Connect Bharat, (b) Optimize travel footprint, (c) Promote seamless, co-operative transport, and (d) Adopt green modes and technologies
