- Integrated Tribal Regional Development Agency (ITDA), Paderu has planned to enforce a prohibition on the sale of plastic water sachets in Araku valley.
- Araku valley is a hill station in the Vishakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. It is inhabited my many tribes such as the Kodhu.
- Water sachets account for half of the plastic waste dumped in Araku and contributes to environmental pollution. It is also detrimental to animal health such as cattle.
- ITDA had also banned the use of plastic carry bags and polythene covers in Araku Valley since January 1st, 2019
