News: China has commissioned its first indigenously designed aircraft carrier Fujian.
About Aircraft Carrier Fujian
- It is the first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier by China.
- It forms part of China’s three-carrier fleet in the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) fleet, after Liaoning and Shandong.
- Features:
- It is equipped with integrated electric propulsion for enhanced power management.
- It features flat flight deck and an Electromagnetic Catapult Launch System (EMALS) for aircraft take-offs.
- It uses CATOBAR configuration (Catapult-Assisted Take-Off But Arrested Recovery), replacing older ski-jump ramps used on Liaoning and Shandong.
- It enables heavier take-offs, higher launch frequency, and greater operational efficiency.
- It has successfully launched J-35 stealth fighter (carrier variant), KJ-600 early warning aircraft and J-15 fighter (modified version)
- It can support up to 40 aircraft per sortie cycle, including stealth and electronic warfare variants.
- It is also capable of supporting larger air wings and more complex joint operations.
