News: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and J&K administration’s have different viewpoint on the application of Article 371 in J&K
Facts:
Article 371, contained in XXI of the Constitution, grants some temporary, transition and special provisions to some states in India.

371 | Maharashtra and Gujarat | Governors of the states are given special responsibilities to set up development boards in regions such as Vidarbha, Marathwada, Kutchh, etc. |
371A | Nagaland | Parliament cannot legislate in the matter relating to religious/social practices of Nagas, Naga customary law, and procedure, transfer of land& resources unless the state Assembly decides to do so. |
371B | Assam | President may provide for the constitution and functions of a committee of the Assembly consisting of members elected from state’s tribal areas. |
371C | Manipur | Same as Assam |
371D & E | Andhra Pradesh | 371D: Safeguards local people rights in matters of employment and education371E: Parliament may by law provide for the establishment of a University in Andhra Pradesh. |
371F | Sikkim | Legislative Assembly must consist of not less than 30 members, seats provided to different sections in Sikkim. |
371G | Mizoram | Same as Nagaland |
371H | Arunachal Pradesh | Legislative Assembly must consist of not less than 30 members. The governor will have a special responsibility with respect to law and order in the state. |
371I | Goa | Legislative Assembly must consist of not less than 30 members |
371J | six backward districts of Hyderabad-Karnataka region | Equitable allocation of funds, equitable opportunities in government jobs and education. |
