- Petroleum Minister has predicted that Assam would soon become one of India’s major oil exporting hubs catering to neighbouring countries and Southeast Asia. The prediction has been based on a number of projects for augmenting oil exploration, refining and transportation capacity in various stages of completion in the state.
- In 2016, the government had introduced Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for north-east India. The Vision aims at a) doubling Oil & Gas production by 2030, b) making clean fuels accessible, c) fast tracking projects, d) generating employment opportunities and e) boosting trade with neighbouring countries.
- The states covered include a) Arunachal Pradesh, b) Assam, c) Manipur, d) Meghalaya, e) Mizoram, f) Nagaland, g) Sikkim and h)Tripura
