Dear Friends,

Its been 15 days since the Mains got over. A break of two weeks is just sufficient – any thing less than or that or no break is likely to burn you out when you get your interview call. Anything more than that, and we’re signing up for a study gap long enough to wipe out all the gains we have made. So much so that we feel all blank when we have to appear for the Interview, or appear for yet another mains to improve our rank or score.

It is said that UPSC has a vicious cycle. Its a cycle because we tend to get caught in the Pre-Mains-Interview repeat loop. Its vicious because by the time we know our score and true position and preparedness with respect to subjects and optional – the next years exam cycle has begun. And the result ( and mains score card ) comes so late such that we cannot make any data driven decisions unless we plan to take a break.

At Forum, we have immensely benefited from the improvements that our students have made in fast paced programs like AWFG where you make monumental progress in a short period of time.

We still remember our journey from 74 interview calls out of 86 students who joined ForumIAS in 2016 to more than two – thirds students from ForumIAS in the final list from paid programs of ForumIAS academy – and almost every second rank improvement student from the academy – has come because we have made our students toil when other have been on a holiday instead of a study rest.

And toil we shall, for the toppers of tomorrow are created in the silent struggle of today.

Remember, we are rewarded publicly for the hard work that we do in private. And this is the time for the silent hustle.

We have no time.

It is October – and it is half over, and it is getting over one day at a time. We plan to commence with AWFG – I from October 23rd, holding tests at 7AM 5 days in a week.

But this isn’t why we feel we have less time. This is also because in 2025, the Commission is conducting the prelims on May 25th and – wait for it – the Mains on August 22nd – one of the shortest periods ever kept in the history of the exam in the past decade or so for one’s mains preparation – designed almost to fail the less “pre”- “pared” among us.

This year, before the Mains, we have clearly seen better learning outcomes and preparedness from first mains appearing students who were part of GSAP / AWFG last year and have gone through one iteration of the mains syllabus, instead of doing it after prelims – waiting to clear prelims first.

It is imperative that we use this time at our disposal to make the most of it, and AWFG is designed just to do that.

Any more time than this would be such a waste.

On 17th this month at 11AM, we shall be conducting the entrance test for AWFG ( Intensive ) to select the candidates for AWFG.

Who could benefit from the program?

AWFG ( Intensive ) is our solution to two things

One, syllabus iteration through a study plan and

Two, handling tricky and difficult questions that have become the hallmark of the Mains since the past few years.

The program should aid

  1. those who have written their 1st / 2nd Mains 2024 and are looking for improving their mains performance. In short they are clearly able to see unresolved problems in their mains answer writing that can be solved by answer writing practice ( and studying before the tests ! )
  2. those who have followed ForumIAS SFG OR are planning to follow SFG / FRC residential for Prelims 2025. We cannot emphasise how difficult it is to work with students who have cleared Prelims with a lot of hard work , and are completely unprepared for Mains.
  3. candidates who are looking for a disciplined program to keep them busy doing cyrpto trade, movies, OTT Series, card playing, poker, quora answer writing, Telegram Timepass and speculation  studies so that they are most prepared for Interview were they to get a call or Mains 2025 were they to write it.
  4. candidates who are returning from FC at LBSNAA who would quickly want a round up of the Mains syllabus before their CSE 2025 attempt.

How will the tests be conducted?

  1. For the Gurugram center, Karol Bagh Center and Online Mode the tests will be conducted at sharp 7AM. You will be given a QCA booklet and you have to finish writing the test within 1 hour. Candidates will not be allowed post 7AM to the test center.
  2. For Online Mode students, a buffer time of 30 minutes ( till 8:30 AM ) will be provided to submit the QCA booklet. No QCA booklet will be accepted after that.
  3. For Offline Centers in other locations, test start time will be from 7AM / 7:30AM / 8AM depending on the center.

But why are you conducting it at 7AM? Isn’t it too cold/ too early / too strict?

The tests will be conducted at 7AM every morning. We have always had best results coming from folks who have written these tests at 7AM. It makes sure that you have ticked off doing one good thing you should have anyway done ( even if there was no forum ) before everyone wakes up to the competition.

Also unlike the period between Mains and Interview, where you have to do so many things, this is time where if you are able to do even half as much as you studied for Mains, then your sorted,  ( and you’ll probably give us a rank ).

And there is nothing better than doing some study the first thing in the morning, while the world sleeps.

How to choose between MGP and AWFG? How are they different?

MGP and AWFG solves different problems. AWFG is an intensive program more like a sprint – you do more in less time while MGP focuses on the ‘Marathon aspect of the Civil Services Examination – the long term consistency that is needed to clear this exam. AWFG does not have 3 hours test of 20 questions, and is more about stamina building for the real Marathon.

An Olympic athlete waits toils and prepares almost 4 years for a performance that lasts anywhere from few seconds to less than a minute. The hundreds of hours that you will give through AWFG and MGP is to prepare you for that 12 hours performance that you have to give for General Studies in the actual Mains examination.

AWFG is not a replacement for MGP and compliments MGP.

Why should I choose AWFG over hundreds of other programs running on the Internet?

Because we know that you will get exactly what is needed for the exam. Because we will never make a noise about AWFG and conduct it quietly with the mainstream crowd which will ensure than 2 out of every 3 candidates having their name in the holy PDF will be from ForumIAS Academy. And because we will not select everyone – not have ten thousand students in our programs – so that you – the students and the future topper – compete with only the best and not the crowd.
