  • The Bhadra River a major river and flows through Karnataka. 
  • Origin: It originates in the Western Ghats and flows eastward across the Deccan Plateau.
  • Course of river: 
    • At Koodli, it merges with the Tunga River. The combined river flows eastward as the Tungabhadra.
    • The Tungabhadra joins the Krishna at Sangamaleshwaram in Andhra Pradesh.
    • The Krishna River eventually flows into the Bay of Bengal.
  • The river also passes through the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • Length: Its total lengthis 178 km.
  • Tributary of: It is a tributary of the Krishna River.
  • Tributaries: It is joined by tributaries such as the Somavahini, Thadabehalla and Odirayanahalla.
  • Dam situated on river: Bhadra Dam is built across the river at Bhadravathi, Karnataka, which forms the Bhadra reservoir.
